Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a lovely holiday and managed to stay warm and dry during the last little spell of crazy, cold, icy weather we have been having. The ice storm left us without power at home for almost 4 days so It will definitely be a Christmas to remember. Today marks the 6 month anniversary of the studio at the Alton Mill so I thought I'd share some arrangements to brighten your day, despite the cold, bleak landscape outside. Stay warm!

Pantone Inc, the design worlds leading colour authority has named their 2014 Colour of the Year, "Radiant Orchid", describing it as "a captivating harmony of fuschia, purple and pink undertones". Call it what you will, but I'm looking forward to using these pretty shades of mauve, lavender, violet, purple and lilac in the upcoming wedding season. Paired with silver-gray accents, like velvety Dusty Miller and Lamb's Ear, it makes for a beautiful, feminine and romantic combination. And seriously what a fun name, the 2013 colour was Emerald Green which was pretty self explanatory. In another life I would love to be the creative mind that comes up with these clever monikers!
Watch this great little video about this historic building, it's new lease on life and the creative souls that work and create here. Plus a short snippet of yours truly too. Enjoy! |
